SUNDAY WEATHER WARN DAY, MONDAY WEATHER WATCH DAY:

We're tracking a winter storm that will arrive this afternoon. The storm will start with an impressive burst of snow which will begin 2 to 4 pm from southwest to northeast and switch over to a mix between 9 and 10 pm. As the storm continues to strengthen it will draw in even warmer air which will change the mix over to plain rain by midnight.

Much of the region will see 2 to 4 inches of snow before the changeover occurs. Areas along the Maryland border may only see a coating to 2 inches. Some location well to the northwest of I-81 *may* receive closer to 6 inches if the changeover occurs later.

Plan for some messy travel later this afternoon through Monday morning. The winds will also pick up significantly tonight and Monday with gusts over 35 mph likely. For these reasons today is a Weather WARN Day and tomorrow is a Weather WATCH Day. Check back with us often on air, online and on all of our social media platforms as we continue to diagnose this latest Winter Weather Maker!

A COLD WEEK:

Overall, the rest of the week is looking cold, especially towards the end of the week into next weekend. There will be another chance for for some snow late week as well, but it's far too early to talk specifics. We have to get through today's storm, first!

CBS 21 FIRST WARNING WEATHER FORECAST:

Tonight:Cloudy with snow to mix to rain. 1-2" additional accumulation likely: Early low 30 and rising overnight
