Frigid Temps Today: Area Warming Shelters Available For Those In Need

FRIGID NIGHT/WEATHER WARN DAY TUESDAY:

Arctic air dives in tonight with frigid temperatures! It will turn sharply colder this evening as temperatures dip into the lower 20s. Overnight lows will fall even further to around 10. Wind chills by Tuesday morning will be sub-zero. Bundle up!

EXTREME COLD 1st HALF OF THE WEEK:

Tonight into early Tuesday will feature the coldest air we've seen so far this season. Tuesday morning will start off around 10 with wind chills below zero. Frostbite can occur within minutes on exposed skin in those conditions. Make sure to wear multiple layers if outside for an extended period of time. Highs on Tuesday will struggle to reach the low 20s. Expect single digit wind chills Tuesday afternoon. Tuesday night into Wednesday morning will also be bitterly cold with wind chills around zero. Because of the sub-zero, dangerous wind chills expected Tuesday morning, The CBS 21 First Warning Weather team has declared Tuesday a Weather WARN Day.

Temperatures moderate a bit the second half of the week, but temperatures will still remain below normal. It's turns colder again Friday.

WATCHING THE WEEKEND:

A more significant storm system will track across the central and eastern US as we head into the weekend. There is high confidence of a storm but much lower confidence in exactly where and what type of impacts will occur. Stay with us as details unfold. Behind this system, another wave of bitterly cold air will grip the region heading into early next week.
